Turbo Grafx 16 game list wont show the right games

I had a handful of TG16 roms in my rom folder for a while until I got my goodset. and I deleted the old ROMs and put my new ROMs in the same folder. Now when I load GameEx the old games still show up, and ONLY the old games, and when I click on them I cannot play any of them. I deleted the emulator from GameEx and did a "fresh" configuration and the old games still show up. How to I get my new ROMs to show up?????????? and YES I have the right ROM path specified and I've checked and double checked my settings. If I absolutely must I'll upload whatever settings inis that are requested.

I would appreciate the assistance.

EDIT: I've tried deteling every cache for every emulator in my Gameex/data folder and the same 90 games show up when I have 400 that should be showing in my TG16 list!

Gameex closes immediately

When i'm using the unconfigured default-config the software starts.

After configuring everything through the setup-wizard GameEx starts

and closes immediately afterwards to go back to Windows Media Center

and opens the donate/register webpage.

The verify option shows no errors.

This is the same for GameEx.exe and GameEx_lite.exe.

What am I doing wrong?

No screensaver when mame paused

I have a mame cabinet I built with an LCD screen running the registered version of Gameex..

my kids love to play the oldies on mame but they keep pausing the game and forget to come back.

I think this might be starting to cause some screen burn in.

How do I make it so the screensaver comes up when mame is paused?

change zip file names? easy way?

I know this has probably been asked and answered a few times before, but here goes again.  I did a search and did not find any simple noob style answers.

I have the gameex seemingly running ok, and all my mame roms are zip files with abbreviations.   is there a easy way to have them read the correct game name?

When I say easy, can anyone explain it as if I am a total noob  LOL....  I  am using the most recent version of gameex if that helps.

thanks

Two part MAME question

So I'd like to think I've looked around quite a bit for others who might have had the same question as me and what I've found doesn't help me at all.

1. How can I get rid of those stupid MAME messages that doesn't involve what seems to be the useless option under the advanced mame settings and without having to compile some source code? It literally makes the screensaver attract mode useless to have on.

2. Is there a config for wired X360 controllers so I can play most of my MAME ROMs without having to configure the controls for each game? (I am aware of the general control settings in mame but I cannot even get to that menu now because my controls are so F**ed)

I'm most grateful for any help because the way things are for me I can only look at my MAME games and barely because of the on screen messages screwing with my attract mode.

[RESOLVED]MAME does not appear in GameEx anymore

As the title says, for some weird reason (probably not so weird) GameEx does not show Mame games anymore.

I don't know what i changed. The only thing i can remember was switching on the option where oinly working games would be showed. I changed this back to showing also the non working games.

I have been searching for this problem. Went true the whole setupwizzard, but still cannot find out what i did wrong.

To be clear, it was working before. (a couple of hours ago)

So maybe one of you guys could have a look at my GameEx ini and might be able to help me out here?

Controller issues with emulators that don't have Xinput

$

For emulators like NullDC and Project 64 and PPSSPP they have Xinput support so when I use my 360 controllers the controls are always good to go and most of the time are already preconfigured. My problem is with emulators like SSF, SNES9x, ePSXe, Fusion, and others that only have Dinput. I can go and set up my controls just fine and the emulator will work nice until I restart the emulaor and I'm pretty sure its because my controller keeps changing from Joy1 to Joy3 or Joy2 and I have to redo the controls because the first time I set them up they say Joy1 and when I restart my controller is Joy2 which obviously wont work if the controls are set for Joy1. Why the hell is my controller constantly changing? I never unplug my controllers or anything so what gives?

Philips CDI emulator

I installed the Philips CDI emulator and it opens the games, only problem is the controls for the emulator get set to mouse only. There are no options in the emulator to configure joysticks. When the emulator is launched outside of GameEx, my Xbox 360 controller works perfectly by default. Anyone else have this issue?

Missing MAME games

Please forgive me, most probaply this issue was discussed again but I couldn't find any answer.

I have working ROMs in MAME UI but they don't appear in the MAME list in GameEx.

I have try disabling the "Verify ROMs" but still the same (and the rest of filters set to true).

What is the procedure to check those "not showing" MAME ROMs?

(An example of not showing ROM is the Q-BERT)

artwork for mame games ?

I have used emumovies to auto download the pics for most of my console roms, but it did not get any of my mame roms..   I only have about 30-40 mame roms that i have installed.  (only the ones I like to play)   I did not install the other 256,078,999 roms that I was not going to play.

I am running the mame emu through the frontend.  all my rom titles are zip folders with abbreviations, so I assume emumovies could not find them.   Can someone tell me how I can manually find a screen shot and install ea shot for the correct 30-40 mame games.

I am a super noob... so a clear super easy to follow answer would be appreciated if anyone can help me.

Displaying game list

Hello forum members!

I am working on configuring my setup with my no-intro named romset. I would like to display USA only titles so I entered *USA* in the rom filter field. Also I would like to use the merge sets option to group betas and other versions to condense the rom list further. However, it seems that I can not utilize both effects at once. Is there any way around this?

Thanks.

After a complete re install of windows and GameEx I have the same problem again! all the emulators work fine except that in Dreamcast I select a game to play and it takes me straight back to the game menu! I have checked the command line (This was the problem before) and checked it in my post on the subject, and it seems okay  I have posted my gameEx ini file,Log file, and dreamcast config. Disable button 2 and 4 global exit

$

I have been reading through the forums now for some time but have only found a post promising that the hard coding of this exit key combination would be removed allowing it to be disable, however I can find no information on where this key combination can be turned off. I have designated the Backspace key as my global exit, and that functions, but no changes I have made to GameEx will disable the simultaneous pressing of buttons 2 and 4 also triggering a emulator exit (very poorly chosen as these are commonly player 2 and player 4 start or coin). Sadly I do not have the option to rewire my input panel as there are no remaining keys for me to use. Also I do not have any key mapping software or controllers on the system; my inputs are seen by the computer as a standard USB keyboard (I am using the control board removed from a keyboard and wired into my control panel harness). I have GameEx version 13.21

Is this option only available on registered GameEx? If so I will need confirmation of this before spending money on a registration (this function is the last road block for me to choose GameEx as my frontend. If anyone can help confirm this, or point me to a thread I missed in the forum I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Gameex window startups in background

Hi all. I have my cab set to autostart Gameex when I power my pc on. All is fine except after it loads my screen is blank - I have to alt tab to bring the gameex to the front. I am also running the coinfx app on startup to make the coin drop sound with a 5 key.

Has anyone ran into this? It's not a killer but it would be great to show gameex window without having to alt-tab to it after bootup.

Game EX issues

$

After reading about various front ends that work on the Raspberry Pi and how seemingly simple it is to build a tiny console emulation machine, I thought I would finally give Game EX a shot.

It installed simple enough, but when I tried to configure the emulators, there is no Emulation config routine and no link to start it inside the Configuration folder.

I also seem to have the same problem I had with Advanced Launcher in XBMC; my roms/iso are located on my WHS 2011 box. When I thought I had GMEX setup and installed, I would go into the emulator menu and it wouldn't see anything but unemc under ePSX and nothing at all under Nestopia or SNESx9.

When I attempted to uninstall, it would without issue, but obvious some files are left behind because when I re-installed it, my login information for EMU Movies keep showing up. Also other changes, I had made to GMEX stayed. Where are these files so I can remove them?

  1.  Unless these issues can be solved, I only have a few choices -
  2.  Don't muck with my HTPC anymore, which would be fine, I am behind on getting My Movies configured, finishing file mergers/editing with some files, along with assigning other task to the server (SABnzbd, Couch Potato, Headphones, etc).
  3.  Wait for Retro Arch for XBMC to come out of beta
  4.  Flash my Super Slim PS3 for Retro Arch
  5.  Build a Raspberry Pi.....
  6.  Buy a Ouya

This just seem ridiculous to me. For about $60 I could build a Raspberry Pi, use Retropie and be done with it. However I wanted to keep cutting down on boxes, not increasing how many boxes I got.

With Directv adding services like YouTube to their DVR's, there are fewer and fewer reasons to keep working with the HTPC if the basic functions are not much beyond a run of the mill, mass use DVR. In fact, my entire video experience can be boiled down to a HD-DVR and XBMC/Retro Pie build.

The HTPC could be repurposed into a standard desktop.

Since I would have to spend $135 plus the price of a HD-DVR (might be able to get that outta DTV for free but that's for another post), maybe that money is better spent simplifying my experience a bit.

All this because I can't simply fire up any front end and play a PS1 game without getting up out of my seat... Advanced Launcher does work if all the files are local, it seems GMEX is setup the same way. I don't have the room on the HTPC to save all my roms/iso/bin files and yes I know I can get a TB for about $60 or 3TB for about $100. I just don't have it to spend right now and it would take roughly 3 months to earn enough Shopkick points to get one from either Targ'et or Best Buy. Don't laugh I earned enough points to pay for the hybrid 1TB drive that lives in the laptop I am typing on, net cost was $22.

Can I get GMEX to behave like it should?
